Maritime Prepositioning Ships Squadron Two

Capt. Jason Reller was born in Greensboro, NC and graduated from Porter-Gaud School in Charleston, SC. He graduated from the University of Virginia in 1995 and entered the United States Navy through Officer Candidate School in 1996.

After commissioning, Capt. Reller reported to USS De Wert (FFG 45) in Mayport, FL, where he deployed twice, as part of Standing Naval Forces Atlantic and to the Eastern Pacific Ocean in support of counter narcotics operations. Later, he returned to sea duty onboard USS Roosevelt (DDG 80) as the Operations Officer and deployed to the Horn of Africa to stem the growth of piracy off the Somali coast. Capt. Reller then served as the Operations Officer (N3) for Commander, Destroyer Squadron Two Six in Norfolk, VA, and deployed onboard the USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) to the Arabian Gulf in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Ashore, Capt. Reller first served as the Battalion Staff Advisor, Junior Class Advisor, and Naval Science Instructor for the Philadelphia NROTC Consortium (University of Pennsylvania, Villanova University, Temple University and Drexel University). While there, he earned a Master's Degree in Human Resource Development from Villanova University. Capt. Reller is also a Distinguished Graduate of the United States Naval War College, where he earned a Master's Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies. Following Naval War College, Capt. Reller served on the Joint Staff in the Force Structure, Resources and Assessments Directorate (J-8), as an action officer and then as an executive assistant.

In 2012, Capt. Reller returned to USS Roosevelt (DDG 80) serving as Executive Officer and then Commanding Officer from June 2014 - March 2016. During his command tour, Roosevelt deployed to the Fifth Fleet AOR with the George H. W. Bush Strike Group in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Inherent Resolve. Most recently, from March 2016 - May 2019, Capt. Reller served as the Director of Future Operations for Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command I U.S. Fourth Fleet.

Capt. Reller holds various decorations and awards, including the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3 Awards), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal ( 4 Awards), and the Joint Staff Identification Badge.
