Capt. Kevin M. Robinson is a native of Chicago, Illinois. He enlisted in the Navy in 1979, rising to the rank of Chief Petty Officer and commissioning in 1990 through the Enlisted Commissioning Program.
Following commissioning Captain Robinson has served sea tours in USS South Carolina (CGN 37) as Reactor Electrical Division Officer and Main Propulsion Assistant; USS Seattle (AOE 3) as Engineer Officer; USS Stout (DDG 55) as Weapons Control Officer and Combat System Officer; and USS Nimitz (CVN 68) as Reactor Training Assistant. Additionally he has served as Commanding Officer in USS Grapple (ARS 53) and USS Mason (DDG 87). His most recent assignment at sea was Reactor Officer, USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69).
Ashore he served on the staff of Commander, Combat Logistics Group TWO; staff OPNAV N13; and as a planner for USJFCOM Standing Joint Force Headquarters (SJFHQ) during which time he deployed to Afghanistan as CREW Engineer, C-IED Task Force Paladin and deployed to Iraq as Chief of Plans, Task Force Ramadi. He also served as Deputy Director and faculty member at the Joint Advanced Warfighting School, Joint Forces Staff College. Prior to taking command of Military Sealift Command, Atlantic he served as Plans Chief and Security Assistance Navy Section Chief, Office of Security Cooperation – Iraq from March 2016-March 2017
Captain Robinson is a Joint Qualified Officer who holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering and a Masters Degree in Business Administration.
