Capt. Chris White
Maritime Prepositioning Ships Squadron Two
Capt. Chris White was commissioned in 1993 through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC), University of Nebraska.
Capt. White's sea tours include Main Engines and Weapons Officer in USS Ponce (LPD 15), Norfolk, VA and Officer-in-Charge, Naval Beach Group Two, onboard USS Nassau (LHA 4), Norfolk, VA, where he completed two Mediterranean deployments. His initial Department Head Afloat was Operations Officer in USS Tortuga (LSD 46), Little Creek, VA, where the ship completed UNITAS and a Standing NATO Forces Atlantic deployment. Subsequent Department Head tours included USS La Salle (AGF 3), Gaeta, Italy, as First LT, and Navigator in USS Peleliu (LHA 5), San Diego, CA, where he completed a Western Pacific deployment in support of OEF. Capt. White has served as Executive Officer Afloat in ASSAULT CRAFT UNIT ONE, Coronado, CA, and USS Comstock (LSD 45), San Diego, CA, completing several overseas deployments. He is currently the Commander, Maritime Prepositioning Squadron Two, Diego Garcia British Indian Ocean Territory.
Ashore, Capt. White served as Deputy Director, Programming and Resources Division for Fleet Readiness and Logistics, OPNAV (N40). Other tours include: Planning and Strategic Analyst, Programming Division, OPNAV (N80), Commanding Officer, Naval Reserve Center, Lincoln, NE, Commanding Officer, Navy Operational Support Center Austin, TX. Additional tours include Surface Warfare Officers School, Newport, RI, and NROTC, Southern University, Baton Rouge, LA. Capt. White holds a Master of Arts Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the United States Naval War College, Newport, Rhode Island. He is the recipient of various personal and unit awards but is most proud of the four "Battle E's" earned with his shipmates in sea-going commands.
