Civilian Mariner Council

The Civilian Mariner Council is a forum to provide the open discussion of civil service mariner, or CIVMAR, items of interest and to channel the outcomes of those discussions to the senior leadership ashore. It is an integrated and representative body of senior CIVMARs with shore side management participation. The objective of the Civilian Mariner Council is to discuss items of interest with reference to the CIVMAR workforce and generate action items that will lead to timely decisions and possible policy formulation.

The Civilian Mariner Council, which convenes about twice annually, is chaired by Military Sealift Fleet Support Command's chief of staff with participation by, most significantly for CIVMARS, the East and West port captains and chief engineers. Issues for Civilian Mariner Council consideration may be submitted to any of these port officers.
