The United States Transportation Command manages the Defense Transportation System and is the distribution process owner for the Department of Defense. The command's mission is to provide air, land and sea transportation for DOD in both time of peace and time of war.

During an average week, USTRANSCOM manages more than 1,900 air mobility missions, 25 sealift missions and 10,000 ground shipments. To accomplish this, USTRANSCOM relies upon its Transportation Component Commands: the Navy’s Military Sealift Command, the Air Force’s Air Mobility Command and the Army’s Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command. The component commands provide mobility forces and assets that offer a seamless transition from peace to war.

The people of USTRANSCOM include active duty military personnel, reservists, National Guard members, federal civil service personnel and civilian contractors. This diverse workforce offers a unique blend of skills and expertise to the Defense Transportation System.

USTRANSCOM provides the synchronized transportation, distribution and sustainment that makes it possible to project national power wherever needed with the greatest speed and agility, the highest efficiency and the most reliable level of trust and accuracy. Our military strategy demands simultaneous deployment of units, replacement personnel and supplies across multiple theaters, day in and day out.

Whether the mission is operational or humanitarian, the more than 150,000 people of USTRANSCOM stand ready to provide seamless transportation of DOD goods worldwide, wherever and whenever needed.
