Meeting the ship in Guam
1. If possible, please call or email ahead and give the ship your flight itinerary.
2. If no one is at the airport to pick you up, please call the ship.
3. By all means, try not to take a cab, it is a $60 ride to the base, then you
will have to walk from the front gate to the ship which is usually a long
distance.
4. If for some reason you arrive in Guam and the ship is underway, you should
check in at
Military Sealift Command Headquarters, Guam, Building 6060.
If you are required to meet the ship in one of the foreign ports, here is some important information to take with you:
Meeting the ship in Yokosuka, Japan
Personnel arriving at Narita International Airport in Tokyo, Japan:
1. Ensure personnel Identification credentials and travel documents are in
possession as prescribed by DOD Foreign Clearance Guide.
2. If sponsor is not waiting at the terminal and prior arrangements have not
been made, report to the Military Customer Service Desk Located in the lobby
outside the Arrival Customs Area of Terminal 1 for assistance. After exiting
the Customs area, turn right and look for the Military Customer Service Desk
along the glass wall to the left and past the food concession stand.
3. Passengers arriving at Terminal 2 must transfer to Terminal 1. Board the
Intra Shuttle bus at Stop 8 outside the arrival area of Terminal 2, debark when
the bus stops in Terminal 1, and proceed to the Military Customer Service Desk
in the arrival area.
4. In case of emergency, which cannot be resolved at the Military Customer
Service Desk, contact the Command Duty Officer of Fleet Activity Yokosuka at
DSN 243-5000 or Commercial 0468-211910 ext 243-5000. A DOD telephone is
available at the Military Customer Service Desk.
Meeting the ship in Singapore
1. Ensure personnel Identification credentials and travel documents are in
possession as prescribed by DOD Foreign Clearance Guide.
2. Commercial lodging in Singapore is expensive. Confirmed lodging is
recommended at the Air Force Billeting, Sling Inn. Commercial telephone number (country code 65) 257-0256.
3. Taxi fares are reasonable but there are additional charges the driver can
legally collect from the passenger in addition to the meter reading. It is
highly recommended that travelers ask what additional charges will be collected
prior to boarding the taxi.
4. Personnel requesting reporting information for afloat units in port, contact
the Command Duty Officer of COMLOGWESTPAC at 9-672-2653 or the Command Duty
Officer of NRCC Singapore at 9-654-0143.
5. Onward transportation must be arranged prior to arrival in Singapore.
Personnel requiring onward travel arrangements report to PSD/CSD Singapore
located at PSA Sembawang wharves, building 7-4. Phone numbers 750-2414 during
working hours or 9-825-3715 after working hours.
6. Passengers departing Changi International Airport are required to pay a
passenger service charge of $15.00 in Sigapore currency (approximately U.S.
$10.00).
7. Recommend that a minimum of U.S. $200.00 in Singapore currency be in
possession upon arrival in Singapore in the event overnight accommodations are
required.
8. The only ATM machine that will take the American Express card is in the inner
section of the International Airport; permission and escort from airport
authorities are needed if the member is outside the controlled
Departure/Arrival area.
9. The CTO in Singapore can assist in arranging transportation for arriving
passengers.
