Command Career Counselor Information
IAW ENLTRANSMAN (NAVPERS 159009G), Section 4.09 and 4.09.1, when transferring
to a USNS ship, you will be offered the option of reassignment to your previous
CONUS duty station area or given an advanced assignment to the next duty
station area in CONUS if you complete tour to PRD as assigned.
Reassignment shall be based on valid requirements and in consonance with the
appropriate sea/shore rotation. Enlisted personnel residing in government
quarters in a CONUS fleet concentrated area are entitled to home basing
guarantee IAW this article, and may maintain residence for his/her family in
government quarters while serving their unaccompanied tour.
Pay Information
All members attached to a West Coast USNS will receive $150 a month in
Special Duty Assignment Pay.
If married, members will receive $250 Family Separation Allowance.
Member will also receive sea pay, based on time and rank.
Housing Information
If attached to a USNS ship based out of San Diego, member will receive BAH
rates for the San Diego area no matter where the member's family is living.
Member's family may continue to reside in government quarters if members family
is presently residing there. You will need a letter from your current
Commanding Officer. *
Upon transfer from USNS, if member desires to live in Navy Housing at new duty
station the waiting list date will be dated back to when member transferred
from their last PDS. *
The ship is forward deployed to Guam. DO NOT send your shipment to San Diego or
fly to San Diego to meet the ship. Have NAVPTO obtain the location of the ship
to ensure you and your shipment are going to the correct location.
